Don't ever believe in the box or leaflet as stated by the brands declaring that they are HDR UHD TV. This is a key mindset you should have while choosing the right TV. The color drive in the TV that able to produce a wide color gamut (WCG) is always along for the ride with HDR. WCG will bring these "real-life" colors and millions more to your eyeballs.
To summarize, HDR in the photo and on TV is different. Photo HDR is to take many images with various exposures to create an image that is a high dynamic range. On the contrary, TV HDR is to expand the contents or the ranges of a scene in relation to its contrast ratio and color volume in order to offer the viewer a more realistic, life-like image.
How does HDR works on TV? It needs 2 parts.
The first part is the TV must be HDR compatible.
A TV to be HDR compatible is easy, they just need to produce more light in certain areas of the image. It's UHD DIMMING (LED backlight dimming) as described and marketed by every Samsung UHD.

The stalk up model of 7400 Series or Premium UHD, the color drive is "Dynamic Crystal Color" (10bit), producing 64 times more color than an HD TV. For the highest end, QLED which is "Q Color" offers even more color definition.
The second part is the sources of HDR content.
Fortunately, HDR content is the trend in current movie or drama production such as streaming services Netflix and Amazon are in 4K resolution. Another source is UHD Bluray disc of which it requires a UHD Bluray player.
